Parish Council News

Clerk Georgina Howes can be contacted on her e-mail georginahowes_1963@hotmail.co.uk or by calling at her house at 20 The Close.

With the recent bad weather, the parish council has noticed that the grit bins are not being used for the purpose that they are intended. The grit in the bins is for gritting the road and some footpaths, the areas which need the grit is the slopes of The Closes and Station Hill and the road past the school, the grit is not for personal use such as drive ways. Because of the misuse the grit bins emptied very quickly and the slopes in and our of the Closes could not be gritted. In the event of more snow please be considerate. Grit should be spread on the road sparingly.

We have also received complaints about the amount of dog mess on the pavements around the village, we are aware that the bins have not been emptied regularly because of the bad weather, but please be a considerate dog owner and clear up after your dogs, many thanks

Renewal of planning permission for the old Chunnel site for doctor’s surgery and 24 houses was submitted in December we are waiting for the out come.

If anyone spots a streetlight not working please contact Georgina Howes at the above address so she can report the fault to highways

There has been several break- ins around the village over the last few months most of the time nothing was taken but on one occasion jewelry and money were taken, please be vigilant and report anything suspicious to the police.
The police are offering a trial of shed alarms and if they prove useful will give details of where they can be purchased

When the Chunnel development takes place there may be a possibility of a phone mast being situated on the site, for a chance of this happening we will all need to write to our mobile company complaining about the network coverage, I will put the addresses on the parish council website
