We have some fantastic news to report, we have succeeded in getting a lottery grant for £10,000! We aim to use it to insulate and clad the outside of the building making it look much smarter and keeping it much warmer inside. Hopefully it will also cut down on noise from the building. We also aim to repair the roof, as its been leaking a bit over the past few months and replace the fire doors.
In addition to that the new flooring has now been laid inside the hall, a new stage and store cupboard have been built and hopefully by the time you read this we will have two new toilets. The interior work follows a major water leak in the spring which caused considerable damage.
Once all the work inside and out has been completed, the garden area will have a makeover with the help of the Lydden Environment Group (LEG), so by the summer, Lydden should have a hall that looks and feels much better than before. All exciting stuff!
Hall bookings are now being taken by text message or e-mail and the system seems to be working very well, but if you don’t have a mobile or access to the internet, don’t worry, you can always ring me, the only problem being I am very busy and it may take me a day or so to get back to you.
