My apologies for this very belated ‘Welcome’ to Ron and Cynthia Eske, who have relocated from London to the land of Lydden this year. They are part of ‘Coffee Morning’ and ‘Housegroup’ (every fortnight on a Tuesday) and have become vibrant participants in the ‘Living Well’ church, with Cynthia cooking a splendid African meal in aid of our Malawi Mission! May you enjoy many, many happy days in our beautiful village.
Thank you too, for those still sending used postage stamps through our letter box – all towards vital charity work at home and abroad. It does not matter how many you collect from your mail – every little helps. We have been asked to ensure that stamps are cut with 6 – 8 mm of the envelope around them. Since 1971 over £95,000 has been raised for charity, just by selling our used postage stamps.. So keep collecting – it costs nothing, but helps hundreds.
I must confess, I’ve been depressed. I’m a ‘summer baby’ and this long, long, cold, cold winter has made it the most difficult time ever, to care for the creatures outside (and I have many to thank who have helped - and gone more than the extra mile – throughout these last months.
I despaired of seeing any colour again in the garden, until one March morning I screamed out to Jim, “Come quick ! There’s a CROCUS !” He reacted as if I’d become unhinged (again) and carried on preparing for the daily toil! But then, on the same day, I saw Beth’s Bible and there, in Isaiah Chapter 35 (in another translation, to which I was not accustomed), were the words, “The wilderness will rejoice and blossom, LIKE THE CROCUS it WILL burst into bloom.” (I’m used to reading ‘Rose’).
So with this inspirational thought from my crocus, speaking of the reality of the Resurrection, I wish you all a truly joyful Easter ! I’m no pope, or primeminister (obviously !), but I never cease to be amazed at how God can speak to us simply from His Word at our point of need.
God bless,
Love Ruthx
